At yesterday’s September General Membership Meeting (GMM), members participated in votes on a variety of matters, including committee (by-)elections and a bylaw amendment!
A bylaw amendment (which can be read in full here) was passed relating to the Ways and Means Fund, formalizing its division into two sub-funds: an Emergencies Fund for unexpected financial need and a Hardship Fund for ongoing financial need unrelated to emergency circumstances. It also stipulates adjudication criteria, including a $1500 per-member per-year cap and examples of need related to both emergies and hardship. Congratulations to all the newest members of CUPE 3903 committees, and thanks to everyone who put their names forward to get more involved. Newly elected members will form parts of various union committees including the Bylaws Committee, Childcare Committee, Research Grants and Travel Funds Committee, and Ways and Means Fund Committee.
