October 2025: Committee Byelections!

Calling all CUPE 3903 members!

Please consider running for open committee positions in the upcoming committee byelections at the October 21 General Membership Meeting.

We are currently taking nominations for the annual elections of the following committees:

  • Employment Equity Committee (2 positions)
  • Research Grants and Travel Costs Funds Committee (1 position)
  • Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) (4 positions)

Terms of office for these Employment Equity Committee and JHSC positions run from October 21, 2025, to the Annual General Meeting in the first week of March 2026.

The office for the Research Grants and Travel Costs Funds Committee will run from October 21 until the regular election for this committee at the General Membership Meeting in September 2026.

Members in good standing may nominate themselves using the form linked here.

Information regarding each committee can be found on the committees page of our website. Per the Bylaws, members may serve on a maximum of four (4) committees per year.

Any committee positions with more nominees than open positions open will be voted on at the October 21 General Membership Meeting. Otherwise, nominees will be acclaimed to their positions.

Candidates are invited to include a statement in support of their nomination(s). Statements received by 20 October 5:00 PM, Toronto Time (EDT) will be included in the GMM package. Nominations can still be submitted after this deadline, but will likely not be included in the GMM package.

Members can also nominate themselves during the GMM, and candidates for any contested positions will be given a chance to make a two-minute statement supporting their candidacy.

Voting will take place at the October GMM and end when the meeting ends.

If you have any questions about committee byelections, please contact Stephen Carr, Vice-President Unit 1, at vpu1@cupe3903.org or Joseph Tohill, Vice President Unit 2, at vpu2@cupe3903.org.
