Do You Care About Glendon? Come to Bargaining on Wednesday, July 29!

If you’re a CUPE 3903 member who cares about Glendon and bilingual education at York U, keep reading!

The Employer has indicated that Interim Provost & Vice-President Academic Laina Bay-Cheng will be attending bargaining on Wednesday afternoon, July 29, for the first half hour to speak to the Units 1, 2, & 3 Bargaining Team about Glendon.

We can surmise that this visit will likely involve discussion of concerning proposed plans that Bay-Cheng has pushed forward regarding Glendon’s future. These plans include moving Glendon’s operations to the main Keele campus, folding it into an overwhelmingly Anglophone environment as a college rather than its own faculty with a separate campus. There have been multiple alarms raised about these plans, including possible job losses, potential financial mismanagement by the employer, lack of collegial governance, as well as Glendon’s long-term independence and viability.

Your Bargaining Team is preparing questions, and per our principle of open bargaining, all members are welcome to attend the session, where they can observe the session and pass notes to the Bargaining Team. Showing up on Wednesday can help send a strong message to York and Bay-Cheng that protecting Glendon is a priority that matters to CUPE 3903 members!

Venez assister aux négociations mercredi pour montrer à York et à Laina Bay-Cheng que le futur de Glendon, ça vous importe!
