Spring has sprung, and proposals are in bloom!
The Bargaining Team (BT) is working diligently towards a completed package of proposals to present to the employer this coming June. With this deadline quickly approaching, May will prove to be a busy month for the membership and for the BT.
Now is the time to start attending (if you haven’t already!) the weekly BT meetings held every Tuesday from 10AM – 12PM in-person at the CUPE 3903 Office (143 Atkinson Building) or on Zoom. The BT also highly encourages members to attend the upcoming General Membership Meeting (GMM) on Tuesday, May 19 from 1 – 4PM, where bargaining will be front and centre.
Since the initial housekeeping proposals the BT recommended to membership could not be passed at the April GMM due to a lack of quorum, the BT hopes to pass these items along with a round of new proposals at the May GMM. All members are encouraged to attend.
The BT met twice this past week: once at the weekly BT meeting, and again the following day with the CUPE 3903 Executive at the joint BT/Exec monthly meeting. There were thorough discussions and planning regarding upcoming townhalls, Special General Membership Meetings (SGMMs) and member outreach. The BT also discussed new proposals regarding wages, severance, leave articles, Collective Agreement (CA) deadlines, LSTAs, and conversions.
Our next event is actually happening TODAY! The BT is hosting a Bargaining Townhall on AI (Artificial Intelligence) via Zoom from 1 – 3PM. Sign on, and let’s chat human-to-human about all things AI (including a new all-units AI technology proposal). I hope to see you there!
