Bargaining Team Report — July 20 – 24, 2026

This week, the bargaining team spent time preparing for the July General Membership Meeting, 1 – 4PM on Monday, July 27. If you haven’t yet, please click this link to register in advance!

During this week’s meeting with the employer, we continued to present our proposal package. The Employer indicated common ground with many of our housekeeping proposals, so we may be able to sign off on them in the coming weeks.

The Employer also shared a document outlining their “Broad Themes of Interest for these negotiations” which you can read here. The bargaining team indicated that we looked forward to examining and responding to proposals reflecting these interests.

Given the Employer’s indicated desire to avoid a strike, we indicated clearly that CUPE does not bargain concessions and that we are committed to protecting the CA’s current provisions for equity, conversions, LSTAs, and appointment processes.

During this week’s bargaining we learned that Interim Provost & Vice-President Academic Laina Bay-Cheng will be attending our next bargaining session on Wednesday, July 29, for roughly the first half hour (arriving slightly after 1PM) to speak to the Units 1, 2, & 3 Bargaining Team about the Glendon Campus. Venez assister aux négociations mercredi pour montrer à York et à Laina Bay-Cheng que le futur de Glendon, ça vous importe! If the future of Glendon campus is important to you, please join us at the table!

The Bargaining Team will be meeting from 10 – 11:30AM in the morning of July 29, and our meeting with the employer will start between 1PM and 1:15PM. Join us for as long or as little as you’d like!

  • To join us in-person: Come to 280A (in York Lanes)
  • To join us online: follow the link here (you can help our moderator by making sure that your account name on Zoom matches your name as it appears on our membership list!)

Looking for a way to get involved in bargaining? The next Bargaining Mobilization Committee meeting will be held on August 5, 2:30 – 4PM! They’ll be brainstorming ways to mobilize for bargaining and planning for upcoming departmental orientations, and they’d love for you to join in!

In solidarity
