Bargaining Team Report – February 9, 2026

The Bargaining Team (BT) wants to hear from you! All CUPE 3903 members are welcome to attend and speak at any upcoming meetings, and this is the most direct way to connect with your BT. Your next opportunity is at the joint BT/Executive Committee meeting on February 27, 2026, from 10AM – 1PM. The BT also invites CUPE 3903 committee members to share feedback and bargaining proposal ideas.

The Units 1, 2, & 3 BT held a meeting on February 9, 2026, with& current BT members, union executive, and CUPE staff in attendance. BT internal parameters, which outline the general procedures the BT will operate by for this coming round of bargaining, were finalized and presented to the membership at the General Membership Meeting (GMM) on February 11, 2026. Those parameters passed with a vote of 85% in favour (with the remaining voters abstaining). Further and more detailed procedures on how the BT will bargain with the employer will be presented for approval by the membership at a future date.

With no Unit 3 BT nominees despite multiple rounds of nominations, and to ensure Unit 3 representation on the BT, the ratified parameters include an article allowing for Unit 1 or 2 members who have held Unit 3 contracts within the last five years to sit on the Unit 3 BT. Only current and political (i.e. have held a GA contract in the last twelve months) Unit 3 members, though, will be able to vote on key Unit 3-specific decisions that are brought to General Membership Meetings. The nomination period for that Unit 3 by-election is now open, and the BT looks forward to welcoming new members. The BT remains hopeful that current members of Unit 3 will fill any open positions.

The Unit 2 BT by-election voting period is also now open, and you can read the candidate statements here.

Thank you to everyone who has filled out the bargaining survey! We currently have 527 total responses across Units 1, 2, and 3 and are working to get that number even higher. Please share the survey with your colleagues or fill it out if you haven’t already as the survey will be closing soon.

The next BT meeting date and time will be announced soon, pending the results of the Unit 2 by-election and the availability of the current and incoming BT.
