Resolution: UHIP Payment Issues!

Following weeks of hard work and multiple discussions with the Employer, we are pleased and relieved to announce that we have successfully arrived at a solution that should cover UHIP reimbursements for members and their dependents for the next two years!

You may recall that CUPE 3903 filed a grievance this Fall regarding the lack of UHIP payment for dependents (find out more at this link). In discussion with the Employer, we were advised that there was not enough money in the UHIP Fund for members as well as their dependents, which is something we had not been informed of previously.

Fortunately, we were able to reach an agreement with the Employer that should allocate sufficient funds to the UHIP Fund for the next two years. We have also resolved the Unit 3 grievance relating to issues with the disbursement of the Graduate Assistant Training Fund

This means that all international student members expecting UHIP reimbursements should receive them; however, it will still take some time for the payments to be made. In the meantime, you do not need to take any action.
