September 2025: Committee Elections & Byelection!

Calling all CUPE 3903 members!

Please consider running for open committee positions in the upcoming Committee Elections and Byelections at the September 18 General Membership Meeting.

We are currently taking nominations for the annual elections of the following committees:

  • Childcare Committee—Coordinator (1 position)
  • Childcare Committee—General Members (3 positions)
  • Research Grants Fund & Travel Costs Fund Committee (2 positions, Unit 2 members only)
  • Ways and Means Committee—Coordinator (1 positions)
  • Ways and Means Committee—General Member (3 positions)

Terms of office for these positions run from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026.

We are also taking nominations for byelections for the following committee:

  • Joint Health and Safety Committee Representatives (5 positions)

Terms of office for the JHSC reps will run until the regular JHSC election at the AGM (Annual General Meeting) in March.

Members in good standing may nominate themselves using the form linked here

Information regarding each committee can be found on the committees page of our website. Per the Bylaws, members may serve on a maximum of four (4) committees per year

Any committee positions with more nominees than open positions open will be voted on at the September 2025 General Membership Meeting (GMM). Otherwise, nominees will be acclaimed to their positions.

Candidates are invited to include a statement in support of their nomination(s). Statements received by Wednesday 17 September 5:00PM, Toronto Time (EDT) will be included in the GMM package. Nominations can still be submitted after this deadline, but will likely not be included in the GMM package.

Members can also nominate themselves during the GMM, and candidates for any contested positions will be given a chance to make a two-minute statement supporting their candidacy.

Voting will take place at the September GMM and end when the meeting ends.

If you have any questions about committee byelections, please contact Stephen Carr, Vice-President Unit 1, at vpu1@cupe3903.org or Joseph Tohill, Vice President Unit 2, at vpu2@cupe3903.org.
