Notice from JHSC Reps: Asbestos & Microcrystalline Silica on Campus

The CUPE 3903 JHSC reps have been provided reports indicating that asbestos and microcrystalline silica may be present at ongoing bathroom renovations across campus. Inhalation of these materials can result in long-term health issues!

The 3903 JHSC reps have confirmed that required warning signage is missing from several of these locations. However, a smaller print list of hazards may be available on site on the Notice of Project in Section B.

If you have been exposed or have reason to believe that you have been adversely affected, please fill out a Workplace Incident Report form with your supervisor (or higher up who has training to fill out the form adequately), and reach out to hsewb@yorku.ca to find the local project manager if the requisite signage is missing (should be large and clearly state the hazards).
