Notice to Pro-Tem Employment Equity Committee Positions

The Executive Committee is giving notice that it will make two pro-tem (temporary or interim) appointments to the Employment Equity Committee at its September 24th meeting.

The Employment Equity Committee’s mandate includes setting goals and timetables for the elimination of discriminatory practices and systemic barriers to equal opportunity. Issues to be addressed include recruitment of employees, selection procedures, job postings, employer training, salaries and benefits, and working conditions.

The committee will consist of three union representatives which meet with the Employer, one of which will be the Joint Chair. Preference will be given to members from each of the designated groups. More information on the Employment Equity Committee can be found on the CUPE 3903 website.

The Executive Committee will fill these positions by a simple majority vote. Per Article 10(f), committee positions filled in this manner will be advertised as open for a two-weeks nomination before the next GMM, which will be in October. Should no other member nominate themselves for a position filled pro-tem, the member temporarily appointed to the position will be acclaimed. Should another member be nominated, elections will proceed at the October GMM.

For questions or to nominate yourself for a pro-tem appointment to one of the above positions, please email Mackenzie Edwards, Communications Officer, at communications@cupe3903.org by 10 AM on September 24th, 2025. Nominees should include a brief candidate statement (maximum 200 words).

Should members have any accessibility concerns, please contact our Staff Representative Equity at equity@cupe3903.org.
