Calling all disabled 3903 members!
CUPE 3903’s Accessibility Committee is calling for the launch of a Disability Caucus, which would include any self-identified disabled members of our Local (following section 5D of the bylaws). We think there is a need for a dedicated organization on campus to work towards improving conditions for disabled members and the broader disability community at York University.
We also hope this caucus can serve as a meeting and rallying point to build community amongst disabled members, connecting us all so that we can share resources and strategies for surviving in an ableist world. We’re brainstorming ideas like workshops, dedicated online/hybrid meeting spaces, accessible social events, information sessions and more.
We want to know what you’d like this caucus to be! If you are a CUPE 3903 member who self-identifies as having any kind of disability, we would appreciate your feedback.
Using the form linked here, let us know what kind of events, activities, or actions you’d like to see from the CUPE 3903 Disability Caucus. Make sure to also leave your email address so that we can let you know about related developments.
We’re looking forward to seeing how this new caucus takes shape as we work towards building stronger solidarity amongst our disabled members!
