Bargaining Team Report — July 6 – 10, 2026

After many months of preparation and anticipation, CUPE 3903’s Units 1, 2, & 3 Bargaining Team (BT) had our first face-to-face meeting with the employer (ER) on the morning of Monday, July 6. Thanks to the advanced accessibility capabilities of a hyflex room in the Life Sciences Building, many CUPE 3903 Members as well as Executive and Staff representatives attended the hybrid meeting.

Although no formal proposals were presented at this introductory meeting, both sides expressed a desire to bargain productively and in good faith and to hold as many meetings as possible during the rest of the summer. The Parties discussed CUPE 3903’s bargaining parameters, and the ER raised no objections to any of them, including open bargaining and hybrid meetings. To facilitate open bargaining going forward, the BT Team has requested that for all future meetings, the Employer book rooms that are both hybrid-capable and accessible.

Following the meeting, the BT proposed weekly bargaining dates in July, August, and the first week of September, which the Employer has now accepted. (See the CUPE 3903 calendar for all the upcoming dates!)

The BT has also committed itself to delivering an almost complete proposal package (currently undergoing final edits) to the ER on Monday, July 13. At the same time, the Union will also post copies of each unit’s package and a table summarizing each proposal on our bargaining websites.

Our first substantive bargaining meeting with the Employer is this Wednesday, July 15 from 10 AM – 5 PM. We look forward to presenting our proposals and to the Employer’s responses! We invite all members to join the meetings in person or online and show your support for your Bargaining Team! In solidarity, CUPE 3903 Bargaining Team (Units 1, 2, & 3) bargaining@cupe3903.org
