Through a contextually situated discussion within the academic institution\, we will continue to navigate different scenarios and situations where conflict may be difficult to parse through\, and collectively explore what a mentorship program for CUPE rank & file and executive committee members can look like.

On this archiving day\, members are invited to find the Committee in the CUPE 3903 Office (143 Atkinson). \nThere you can have a look at what we’re working on\, ask us questions about the archive and learn about the local’s records\, and (should you wish) join us in organizing\, arranging\, describing\, preserving\, and presenting fifty years of CUPE 3903 history! \nNo advance registration or archival experience required! Just show-up during the listed hours\, and stay as long as you wish! \nOur next archiving session will be June 19th\, 2025\, 11AM – 3PM. SUMMARY:Being in Good Relationship: Empathic Listening & Setting Boundaries in the Academic Workplace
DESCRIPTION:Register here: https://forms.gle/QTbHTC3BbHmdGbo36\n\n\nThis workshop will develop participants’ skills around reciprocal relationship building\, boundary setting\, active listening and holding space for sensitive disclosures and hard conversations. We will begin by contextualizing these ideas within the institution of York University\, and explore what reciprocal relationships could look like within an environment that fosters competition and extractive modalities of relationality.\n\nWe will discuss the politics of conflict and the importance of knowing how to be in community with people we don’t necessarily like. Through interactive learning and discussion\, participants will put these ideas into practice and explore different scenarios and contradictions and how to navigate through them together.\n\n\nDate: June 17\, 2025\nTime: 10:15AM-2:30PM\nLocation: Vari Hall 3000\n\n\nCoffee\, tea\, and snacks will be provided in the morning.  Lunch will be provided in the afternoon.\n\n\nAccessibility notes: In order to ensure the workshop is accessible to all of our members\, workshop participants are encouraged to mask for the duration of the workshop (excepting food breaks).  We ask that all participants please take a COVID test in advance of the workshop.
